Our Processes:

About Us

About Us

When I lost my father, something shifted in me.

It was one of those moments where life forces you to slow down and take a hard look at everything — your habits, your health, your future. I found myself questioning how we care for ourselves, what we put into our bodies, and how little most of us truly understand about the connection between our daily choices and long-term wellbeing. That moment sparked the beginning of what would later become Social Herbalists.

I didn’t grow up dreaming of starting a wellness brand. I worked in healthcare — up close with the people affected when health goes neglected. I saw the pressure that stress, poor nutrition, and lack of preventative care can place not only on individuals, but on families and entire communities. But alongside my work in the healthcare system, I was also beginning to take my own health more seriously — getting active, going to the gym regularly, and learning how much of a difference intentional, balanced living could make.

It wasn’t about perfection. It was about progress, awareness, and reconnecting with the body in a way modern life often pulls us away from.

Our Mission

To connect people with accessible, effective, and honest wellness solutions — blending nature, nutrition, and knowledge.

At Social Herbalists, we don’t believe in quick fixes or empty buzzwords. We believe in small, sustainable shifts backed by both tradition and science. Whether you’re reaching for a calming herbal tea, an immune-supporting essential oil, or a high-quality protein shake to fuel your workouts — we’re here to support your health journey in a way that fits your lifestyle.

The Social Herbalists Philosophy

Wellness isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it doesn’t live in a capsule.

We approach health through two complementary lenses:

1. Wellness & Herbal Remedies

We’re proud to source high-quality dried herbs, loose-leaf teas, and essential oils known for their support in sleep, digestion, stress management, immunity and more.

  • Mullein – for respiratory health
  • Gotu kola – known for cognitive support and circulation
  • Lavender & Chamomile – calming, soothing, sleep-enhancing
  • Red raspberry leaf – often used to support reproductive health

2. Fitness & Nutrition

Alongside our herbs, we also offer protein shakes, nutrient-rich powders, and performance support supplements for active lifestyles.

From whey protein blends to naturally occurring performance enhancers like maca root, our fitness products are carefully selected to complement your body’s effort with real nourishment.

Why the Name “Social Herbalists”?

We wanted a name that felt human. Real. Grounded. “Social” represents connection — to ourselves, our health, each other, and the broader community. “Herbalists” speaks to our roots in plant-based remedies, education, and self-empowered care.

Our Long-Term Vision

Social Herbalists isn’t just a shop — it’s a movement for informed wellbeing.

  • Sports performance – under our sub-brands like Apex Performance, Ignite, and EndureX
  • Hair & skin health – with botanically enhanced creams and oils
  • Aromatherapy – from stress relief to sleep support
  • Educational resources – blog posts, short videos, and our future app offering health tools, recipes, and challenges

What Makes Us Different?

  • Personal Story, Professional Backing – I started this after my father’s passing, drawing from both my healthcare background and my gym-fuelled health shift.
  • Balanced Wellness – We don’t force people to pick between science and nature. Why not have both?
  • Education First – From blog articles to our future Wellness Diary app, we make wellness understandable.
  • Community-Focused – From challenges to interactive tools, our brand is built with connection in mind.
  • Accessible & Transparent – No greenwashing. No fluff. Just clear, honest wellness.

A Final Word from Me

If you’ve ever felt like your body’s working against you, or just want to take control of your health without falling into extremes — this space is for you.

I know what it feels like to start from scratch. This journey has been about healing for me — physically, mentally, and emotionally. And I built Social Herbalists so you wouldn’t have to go it alone.

Thanks for being here.

Our Sourcing Standards

Our Sourcing Standards: Built on Trust, Guided by Purpose

At Social Herbalists, we’re more than a wellness brand — we’re a bridge between natural tradition and modern performance. Whether you’re sipping an herbal blend or powering through a gym session, we believe that everything you consume or apply should be sourced with purpose, tested for integrity, and shared with full transparency.

That’s why we’ve built our business around three core pillars of sourcing — Information, Products, and Packaging — each rooted in values that put your health and the planet first.

Information Sourcing: Rooted in Evidence, Refined for Clarity

We believe that wellness deserves more than guesswork — it deserves integrity. That’s why our content creation process is built on trusted, verifiable information from globally respected institutions. Whether we’re writing a blog or crafting product descriptions, every word is carefully researched.

Our sources range from peer-reviewed academic papers to content produced by medical professionals, government bodies, universities, and organisations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA). We favour corroborated data, long-standing traditional use, and clinical studies, and we actively avoid unverified claims or anecdotal marketing fluff.

To maintain consistency and quality, we follow an internal grading system that helps us prioritise sources based on:

  • Scientific rigour and peer review status
  • Historical use and ethnobotanical context
  • Real-world application and outcome data
  • Agreement across multiple credible sources

Our goal? To bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern science — offering information that’s clear, balanced, and backed by both tradition and data.

Product Sourcing: Naturally Selected, Consciously Curated

We’re committed to offering products that are as pure as the values we stand for. That’s why our sourcing process is guided by one clear goal: to deliver natural, organic, and ethically produced products that support real wellness.

Every ingredient we offer has been carefully chosen from suppliers who share our ethos — businesses that prioritise sustainability, transparency, and respect for nature. Before anything reaches our shelves, it undergoes a rigorous quality assurance process, including third-party testing for purity, safety, and potency.

But we don’t just tick boxes. We believe in building genuine relationships with our suppliers — open communication, mutual respect, and long-term partnerships that go beyond transactions. This allows us to better trace our supply chains, ensure consistent quality, and keep improving together.

By focusing on traceability, trust, and testing, we make sure that everything we source stands up to scrutiny — and supports your wellness with integrity.

Packaging Sourcing: Designed with Purpose, Chosen with Care

Packaging isn’t just about presentation — it’s a reflection of our responsibility. From the very beginning, we’ve prioritised sustainable and practical packaging choices that protect both our products and the planet.

We actively seek out suppliers who share our commitment to reducing waste and minimising environmental impact. Where possible, we opt for biodegradable, compostable, or recyclable materials, and we continue to evolve our approach as better options become available.

Every packaging decision we make considers the full lifecycle — from sourcing and shipping to how easily it can be reused, recycled or responsibly discarded. We also look at supply partners through an ethical lens, choosing those who value transparency and fair practice.

It’s all part of our mission to build a business that not only delivers quality but does so consciously, with care woven into every detail — right down to the packaging you hold in your hands.

What This Means for You

When you buy from Social Herbalists, you're not just getting a product — you're getting peace of mind. You're choosing a company that takes the time to ask questions, verify facts, trace ingredients, and choose better materials — all so you can focus on your health without second‑guessing what you're putting in your body or leaving behind in the world.

Our standards are high because they have to be. You deserve nothing less.

Social Herbalists: Where wellness meets responsibility — from seed to shelf.

Our Product Sourcing Process

Product Sourcing: Quality You Can Trace, Integrity You Can Trust

At Social Herbalists, we believe that what you put in your body should be as honest and unaltered as possible. That’s why we go beyond buzzwords like “natural” and “organic” — and instead, focus on building a sourcing process rooted in transparency, testing, and trust.

Our product sourcing approach is more than just supply chain logistics — it’s a reflection of who we are. From handpicked herbs to full-spectrum blends, we select only those ingredients that meet our standards for purity, potency, and purpose.

Our Product Sourcing Philosophy

We don’t believe in shortcuts — especially when it comes to health. That’s why every product we offer is sourced with intention and care. Whether it’s a loose leaf tea or a performance supplement, our guiding principles remain the same:

  • Natural First: We prioritise ingredients that are plant-based, unadulterated, and free from artificial fillers or preservatives.
  • Organic Where Possible: Many of our herbs are organically grown. When full certification isn’t possible (e.g. small-scale farms), we look for equivalent non-certified practices and traceable evidence of sustainable cultivation.
  • Sourced with Purpose: We don’t jump on trends. Every ingredient is selected for a specific wellness benefit — not just because it’s fashionable.

This approach ensures that our product catalogue isn’t just clean — it’s intentional.

Selecting the Right Suppliers

We don’t work with just anyone. Our supplier partnerships are built on shared values — including a commitment to quality, sustainability, and open communication.

Before any supplier is approved, we conduct a thorough vetting process that includes:

  • Reviewing their quality assurance and safety documentation
  • Understanding their harvesting, processing, and storage methods
  • Evaluating their environmental and ethical practices
  • Sampling and lab testing their raw materials
  • Establishing a clear, ongoing line of communication

We aim to develop long-term relationships, not transactional partnerships. Over time, this allows us to build trust, influence practices, and maintain the consistency our customers expect.

Quality Assurance & Third-Party Testing

Everything we stock must pass our internal quality checks — but that’s just the beginning.

We also require independent third-party testing for key markers like:

  • Purity: Free from heavy metals, pesticides, microbials, and adulterants
  • Identity: Confirming the correct species and part of the plant
  • Potency: Verifying active compound levels
  • Freshness: Ensuring products haven’t degraded during storage or transport

Test results are reviewed before product approval and periodically revisited through random batch testing — especially for herbs prone to contamination or fraud (e.g. turmeric, ashwagandha, ginseng).

We work with accredited labs using validated testing methods like HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography), GC-MS, and microbiological screening — because guessing isn’t good enough.

Traceability: From Seed to Shelf

We aim for traceability wherever possible — the ability to track each product’s journey from harvest to your cup or capsule.

This includes:

  • Knowing the origin (country, region, and sometimes even the farm)
  • Tracking harvesting methods (e.g. wildcrafted, hand-picked, machine-processed)
  • Monitoring processing steps (drying, cutting, powdering)
  • Ensuring proper storage and transit conditions

This not only reduces the risk of quality loss or contamination — it also gives our customers peace of mind. If you ever want to know where your product came from or how it was handled, we’ll be happy to show you.

Supporting Ethical and Sustainable Practices

We don’t just look at product specs — we look at people and the planet too.

Where possible, we support suppliers who:

  • Pay fair wages and support small-scale or local farming
  • Avoid overharvesting and protect endangered species
  • Minimise water usage, soil damage, and chemical inputs
  • Reinvest in their communities

This is especially important in herb-rich regions like India, Sri Lanka, Ghana, and Peru, where ethical sourcing practices can vary significantly between suppliers.

Sourcing responsibly means we’re not only offering quality — we’re helping support regenerative systems that last.

What We Don’t Do

To keep our standards high, here’s what we intentionally avoid:

  • No synthetic additives or fillers
  • No “white label” rebrands without testing
  • No unverified “miracle” herbs
  • No overhyped blends made just to chase trends
  • No compromised batches — ever

If something doesn’t meet our criteria, we don’t offer it. Simple as that.

Working Closely with Farmers & Processors

Our relationships go beyond purchase orders. When possible, we build rapport directly with farmers, processors, and small co-operatives. This allows us to:

  • Understand growing cycles and seasonal factors
  • Plan ahead for supply challenges
  • Discuss ways to improve drying or processing
  • Offer feedback based on lab results and customer reviews
  • Grow together through shared success

It also opens the door to unique, small-batch, and hard-to-source herbs that aren’t available through larger distributors.

How This Benefits You

Everything we do in sourcing has one end goal: to give you confidence in what you’re using.

  • You know where your ingredients came from
  • You know they’ve been tested for safety
  • You know they were grown and processed with care
  • You know they weren’t rushed, diluted, or mass-produced at the expense of quality

That’s what product integrity looks like. And it’s what you deserve.

One Tree per Tea | Social Herbalists

One Tree per Tea: Our Commitment to Reforestation and Climate Action

At Social Herbalists, we believe wellness starts with nature. That’s why every purchase you make helps heal the planet. Through our ‘One Tree per Tea’ initiative, we’ve partnered with More Trees to plant one tree for every product sold — blending herbal health with global environmental impact.

Who Are More Trees?

More Trees is a UK-based environmental organisation focused on making carbon offsetting and reforestation simple, transparent, and impactful. Their mission is to combat climate change, restore ecosystems, and reduce poverty by supporting tree planting projects around the world.

By partnering with established reforestation experts and local communities, More Trees ensures that each tree planted contributes to sustainable development goals, including:

  • Carbon sequestration
  • Biodiversity restoration
  • Soil regeneration
  • Economic empowerment

More Trees isn’t just about planting trees — it’s about creating long-term environmental and social change.

Where Are the Trees Planted?

More Trees operates in high-impact reforestation zones where ecosystems are under severe threat from deforestation, land degradation, and climate instability. Current project locations include:

Madagascar

  • Focus: Mangrove and dry deciduous forest restoration
  • Benefits: Coastal protection, carbon storage, wildlife habitat restoration
  • Community impact: Local employment for tree planting, nursery management, and site maintenance

Kenya

  • Focus: Agroforestry and community-led reforestation
  • Benefits: Soil enrichment, food security, ecosystem recovery
  • Community impact: Sustainable farming integration and climate resilience for rural populations

Nepal

  • Focus: Mountain forest restoration and landslide prevention
  • Benefits: Watershed protection, native species reintroduction
  • Community impact: Rebuilding natural barriers and supporting indigenous livelihoods

More Trees continues to expand its reach by partnering with vetted organisations in other countries facing urgent deforestation threats — including Haiti, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

How Tree Planting Helps the Planet

Tree planting is one of the most effective and scalable ways to address climate change and environmental degradation. Every tree you help plant through your purchase with Social Herbalists contributes to:

  • Absorbing CO₂: A single tree can offset up to 0.3 tonnes of carbon over its lifetime.
  • Protecting wildlife: Reforested areas become safe habitats for endangered species.
  • Regenerating soil: Trees restore nutrients and reduce erosion.
  • Creating fair jobs: Local people are employed to grow, plant, and care for trees, creating sustainable income.

This isn’t charity. It’s climate action with measurable impact.

What ‘One Tree per Tea’ Means

Through our partnership with More Trees, we’ve launched the One Tree per Tea initiative. That means for every pouch, tin, or bag of tea or herbs you purchase from Social Herbalists, we fund the planting of one tree.

It’s our way of embedding sustainability into every product — and making sure your wellness journey contributes to the planet’s well-being too.

Every order plants a tree. Every tree absorbs CO₂. Every cup becomes part of the solution.

Why This Matters to Us (and You)

As a wellness brand rooted in nature, we understand the value of a thriving planet. The herbs we source depend on clean soil, fresh water, and biodiversity — all of which are protected and restored through tree planting.

We believe in:

  • Transparency: You’ll soon be able to track your tree-planting impact directly through our website.
  • Sustainability: Our herbs are responsibly sourced, and our packaging is recyclable — but we wanted to do more.
  • Action: Climate change is real. But so is the power of small daily choices, like drinking herbal tea.

By supporting Social Herbalists, you’re not just choosing wellness — you’re choosing to be part of global reforestation.

Join the Movement

Whether you’re sipping chamomile to unwind or blending mullein into your wellness routine, every purchase supports a greener planet.

Let’s restore forests, support communities, and fight climate change — one tree, one tea at a time.
